John J. Rowder joined Newmark Realty Capital, Inc. as a partner in April of 1994, bringing over 20 years of experience in all phases of commercial real estate finance to the firm. Mr. Rowder received a B.A. degree in Accounting and Business Management in 1960 from DePaul University in Chicago. He completed his MBA degree in Business Administration and Real Estate Finance at San Jose State University in 1968.

Mr. Rowder has taken all of the American Appraisal Institute courses required for MAI candidates and has had two demonstration appraisal reports approved by the Appraisal Review Committee. He also holds a California Real Estate Broker license.

Prior to joining Newmark Realty Capital, Inc., Mr. Rowder was a Vice President and loan representative for Wells Fargo Bank’s REIL Group covering Sacramento, the San Joaquin Valley, Fresno, and the north state. Mr. Rowder placed commercial real estate and apartment loans within REIL Group. He was the northern California correspondent for Canada Life Assurance Company, but also worked directly with other institutional lenders, including Principal Mutual Life, Great Northern Annuity, General American, and Standard of Portland.

From 1986 to 1991, Mr. Rowder was Vice President and Manager of the Wells Fargo Realty Finance Sacramento office. He placed commercial real estate loans with Canada Life, Mass Mutual, Teachers of New York, and other institutional investors. Mr. Rowder was one of the top five producers in 1987 and received the President’s Club Award.

From 1977 to 1986, Mr. Rowder worked for Giddings Mortgage Company placing commercial real estate loans with insurance company lenders, including Mass Mutual, New York Life, Bankers of Nebraska and California Western States Life. Giddings Mortgage Company was purchased by Weyerhaeuser Mortgage in 1980 and Mr. Rowder became a Senior Vice President and managed four mortgage loan production offices in San Mateo, San Jose, Sacramento and Fresno. He was named a member of internal loan committee, reviewing construction and permanent loan requests from 10 branch offices on the West Coast (Oregon, Washington, and California).
